Hayat （いのち）〜イスラムの視点からみる芸術〜 Hayat- An artistic practice from an Islamic lens’ An animation screening and an artist talk

京都・一乗寺のギャラリー青い虹で、トルコ出身の映像作家ルメイサさんによるアニメーション作品の上映とアーティストトークを開催しました。

トークに出てきた英語をみなさんと共有しながら、少し難しい単語はその場で確かめ合いました。上映後は、ミントティーとトルコの小さなお菓子をいただきながら、ゆっくり言葉を交わす時間。イスラム文化の視点から、「生」と「死」について考える、豊かなひとときとなりました。

At Gallery Aoi Niji in Ichijoji, Kyoto, we hosted a screening of animation works by Turkish video artist Rümeysa, followed by an artist talk.

As we listened, we shared some of the English expressions that came up in the talk and checked the meanings of a few more difficult words together. After the screening, we enjoyed mint tea and small Turkish sweets while spending time in relaxed conversation with the people who had gathered there.

It was a rich and thoughtful time, reflecting on life and death through the lens of Islamic culture.

ハムルジュ・ルメイサ

オランダで育ち、トルコ文化をルーツに持つアーティスト。イスラムの精神文化を通して、愛や帰属意識、アイデンティティのあり方を見つめ、表現へとつなげている。ロッテルダムのウィレム・デ・クーニング・アカデミー、アニメーション学科を卒業後、映像業界で経験を積み、のちに京都精華大学大学院マンガ研究科修士課程を修了。

Rümeysa

An artist raised in the Netherlands with roots in Turkish culture, Rümeysa explores themes of love, belonging, and identity through the lens of Islamic spirituality. After graduating from the Animation Department at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, she gained experience in the film and video industry, and later completed a master’s degree in Manga Studies at Kyoto Seika University Graduate School.
